Uses:
Tert-Butyl hydroperoxide or Tertiary Butyl Hydroperoxide or TBHP is used in a variety of oxidation processes. Tertiary Butyl hydro peroxide is highly reactive, flammable and toxic. Tert-butyl hydroperoxide is used as a radical polymerization initiator. TBHP provides higher thermal stability than other commonly used oxidizing agents. It has a high self-accelerating decomposition temperature 88C. Little to no decomposition occurs up to moderate temperatures 38C. It is normally supplied as a 69–70% aqueous solution. It has a role as an antibacterial agent and an oxidising agent.
